Everywhere you turn the potential for something magical appears. This view was glimpsed from the window of a contemporary art gallery. It is a Jain temple inspired by the medieval temples of Orissa (A neighboring state known for it’s very distinct and rich culture). The Temple was especially otherworldly with it’s night lighting.

Most of Tuesday was spent at a series of panel discussions on contemporary art issues sponsored by the Harrington Centre. It was a good excuse to meet people and reconnect with artist and students I met when I was here in 2007.  The discussions were also a good insight into the art scene, which appears to be alive and well here in Kolkata.

In addition I have been brain storming in regards to my installation and trying to come to terms with how to complete and install the parts I have brought with me. Rounding up materials and supplies is a group effort not just something I can do on my own.
